Since you don't have to prepare a buttload of different elemental spells for damage, it frees up room for empty slots or utility spells of your choice and saves you a Metamagic Feat. It gives your Scorching Rays, Fireballs and whatnot perfect coverage, so you can blast things regardless of resistances. Said power is called Versatile Evocation, and it allows you to swap the element of any evocation spell with the acid, cold, fire or electricity descriptor on the fly. I've found the Evocation subschool Admixture's power to have been invaluable. However, I also wanted to play the Arcane Trickster as a blaster with a sprinkling of utility. The main selling point was the versatility with spells (which an Arcanist also has). Personally? I've been playing an Arcane Trickster for quite some time and my pick was for Wizard.
